OK, so that’s technically two questions. And while an explanation on the first one is still up in the air (no parasailing pun intended) after Who Killed Sara’s first season ended with a big question mark, the good news is that we’ve got a solid answer on when the show is coming back for more.
When is the Who Killed Sara Season 2 release date?
Really soon! It drops May 19! That’s less than two months after all 10 episodes of Season 1 dropped March 24.
Which cast members are returning for Who Killed Sara? Season 2?
Presumably, series star Manolo Cardona (who plays Alex) will be back for more as he continues unraveling the intrigue surrounding his sister Sara’s death almost 20 years ago. Variety reports that a slew of other cast members are also slated to return, including Alejandro Nones, who plays Sara’s boyfriend Rodolfo Lazcano, as well as the actors who played the leaders of the Lazcano clan, Claudia Ramírez and Ginés García Millán. Also on board for next season? Ela Velden, known as the mysterious “Diana the Huntress.” And at least three new actors are coming aboard for Season 2—Matías Novoa, Daniel Giménez Cacho and Antonio de la Vega—although nothing has been revealed so far about the characters they’re set to portray.
What happened in Who Killed Sara Season 1?
The season opened in 2001 with Sara mysteriously dying in a parasailing mishap while on a luxurious vacation with her boyfriend’s rich family, as well as her brother, Alex—who winds up wrongly convicted and imprisoned for her murder. Jump to the present day, and Alex is now a free man again and determined to find out who framed him for his sister’s death. But by the end of Season 1, it seems everyone has become a suspect. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!) Not only does Alex uncover murderous motives that could tie any one of the show’s supporting characters to the crime, but he also learns that Sara had suicidal tendencies, suggesting that self-harm may have been to blame for her demise. But wait, there’s more! Alex also finds human remains in a shallow grave—with a bullet hole through the skull. So maybe Sara didn’t even die the way we thought she did?
Is there a Who Killed Sara Season 2 trailer?
Yes, but it’s kinda hidden. Back on March 29, the Netflix Latinoamérica YouTube account shared a 45-second teaser for Season 2 that shows more Sara flashbacks, plus a shot of Alex alongside the aforementioned skeleton in some kind of examination room. The clip is accompanied by the caption, “The search to find out what happened to Sara continues, but along the way, Alex discovers that, in reality, his sister was not who he thought.”
Are there any WhoKilledSara? Season 2 spoilers?
The best source for potential Season 2 plot details is probably that trailer, which seems to suggest that we’re in for a lot more information about Sara’s backstory. There are also a few details from the first season finale suggesting that Sara herself could be Alex’s next, big suspect as he struggles to unravel the mystery of her death. (Warning: More Season 1 spoilers ahead!) Alex finds Sara’s old diary, in which she not only divulged her mental health struggles, but also cryptically wrote, “What if I’m crazy like him?” The journal also contained a sketch of that unmarked grave where Alex found the bullet-pierced skull. Is that buried skeleton Sara’s? Does it belong to the “him” she referenced in her diary? One last possible spoiler: We may not find out the answers to any of these questions in Season 2! According to The Cinemaholic, series creator Jose Ignacio Valenzuela previously stated that the best way to pitch a series to a streaming platform like Netflix is to present an idea that can be stretched out for at least three seasons. So there may be more story left than you think!
