Krakow chatted with Parade.com about Elizabeth Thornton and life on the set of Hallmark Channel’s hit series.
If you could play any other character on When Calls the Heart, who would you be and why?
Little Jack! He works for 20 minutes and then gets a snack or takes a nap! I actually think it would be very entertaining for all of us to switch parts one day—just for a quick scene to make each other laugh. KLW: It should be a “Hickam has a dream” sequence!
What was it like filming during the pandemic with all the protocols in place? Did you find you had to change your approach to life on set?
We implemented a lot of new safety protocols! Masks, testing, pods etc. And there were some scenes we found ourselves doing less of. For example, we don’t have as many schoolhouse scenes in the upcoming season because it felt irresponsible to cram a large group of children and our crew into a small enclosed space together. Instead we have school scenes outdoors, or much smaller group scenes. We were all just so grateful to get back to work. And we’re lucky because When Calls the Heart has been at this for so long that we’re like a well-oiled machine. We knew how lucky we were to be working again, so we took a lot of care to make sure we kept each other safe.
Will Henry Gowen ever get a chance at romance?
I think he’s had his eye on someone special for years.

What can Hearties look forward to this season?
Hearties can look forward to romance, friendship, the support of the community, secrets being revealed, decisions being made, and a whole lot of love!
Where is your favorite spot on the Jamestown set?
I have so many. I probably give a different answer anytime this question is asked of me! Today I’m going with the couch in the parlor at the back of the cafe.
What snacks do you reach for at Craft Services when you’re feeling a bit peckish?
Watermelon, tea, cashews, vanilla sandwich cookies, snap peas…
