The once-shuttered beloved mega toy store chain is making its way back via Macy’s pop-up shops all around the U.S.—just in time for holiday shopping! The official rollout is set to begin in late July, with all locations expected to be in place by mid-October, according to a press release. In-store shops will vary in size, with some flagship locations like Atlanta, Chicago, Honolulu, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco, spanning up to 10,000 square feet of good old-fashioned toy heaven. In partnership with Toys “R” Us parent company WHP Global, the 1957-founded brand will come back to life, brick-and-mortar style, with colorful setups and playful fixtures, as well as hands-on demonstration tables for customers to interact with various toy assortments. The shops will also feature a life-size “Geoffrey on a Bench” photo-op for families and fans of all ages to enjoy. In celebration of the openings, all Macy’s stores will host nine days of in-store events, beginning October 15 through October 23, which will include family friendly activities and daily giveaways from classic brands like Barbie, LEGO and more. Since last year, Macy’s customers have had exclusive online access to the toy superstore’s catalog of products, powered by the department store chain’s digital and fulfillment ecosystem. “Macy’s cannot wait to bring the Toys “R” Us experience to life in our stores,” Macy’s chief merchandising officer Nata Dvir said. “We hope Toys ”R” Us kids of all ages discover the joy of exploration and play within our shops and families create special memories together. The customer response to our partnership with Toys “R” Us has been incredible and our toy business has seen tremendous growth.” Next, Terrible Twos? More Like Terrific Twos!
