Today’s Wordle Answer #236: Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022
If you need a hint for Wordle 236, stop and think about it like this: the solution is what the game is in itself for a lot of us. For the Feb. 10, 2022 Wordle, we began with the word “CRANE,” which was recently declared the best Wordle starting word by a fancy algorithm. (We usually opt for something with R, S, T, E, and A, but wanted to test this method out.) That gave us our A (in the wrong place) and our E in the correct place. Tempted to try out “APPLE” (because one a day is recommended, just like Wordle), we instead opted for “AMBLE” to avoid double letters early on and open up our options. Narrator voice: It didn’t make a difference. However, we did notice that the L wasn’t used, which allowed us to switch up our strategy and use the P that “APPLE” would have had elsewhere. Feeling crafty, we tried out “PASTE,” largely because the ubiquitous letters S, T, and E would be put to good use. That ended up being a wise move, as it left us just one letter away from our Wordle answer of the day — and, frankly, no other letters fit into this, so it became easy from there. The Wordle answer of the day was “PAUSE,” and how fitting: Many consider Wordle a brief reprieve from the doom, gloom, and disconnectedness of every day.
