Eagle-eyed fans have tracked that season 35 started filming in late October, and concluded in mid-November.
Where will The Amazing Race travel in season 35?
With no official announcement yet, fans have tracked the race course of The Amazing Race 35. Unlike the previous two seasons, which saw a primarily European route, the teams this season will be traveling mainly in the Caribbean and South America. Destinations include Mexico, Argentina, Barbados, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay, with the finish line in Philadelphia.
How will The Amazing Race season 35 handle filming during the pandemic?
Season 33 saw an unprecedented situation when filming took a hiatus for over a year from February 2020 to September 2021. When things unpaused, the race looked a little different. Not only did four teams have to drop out for various reasons, but the remaining teams were given a route that stayed entirely in Europe. They were also transported between legs by an official Amazing Race plane. Even then, there are cases that can still break through, as we saw on season 34 where one team tested positive for COVID and was forced to be removed from the race.Season 35 seems to have lightened the COVID load a bit, to reflect the way the world did in 2022. As mentioned above, the route has changed course, not focusing as much on countries that have fewer cases. However, the chartered plane is still being utilized, changing from a Titan Airways Boeing 757, this season used a Global Crossing Airlines Airbus 320.
What new changes are in The Amazing Race season 35?
Last season of The Amazing Race provided a number of “firsts” for the veteran reality series. The season was marketed as the first ever with no non-elimination legs (though there were Megalegs throughout to pad out the episode length). As such, the cast was increased from its typical 11 up to 12. The starting line also took place for the first time outside of the United States in Germany. And that opening leg brought about a new format in the “Scramble,” which had teams accomplishing three tasks in any order to finish the leg.It’s unknown at this time whether non-elimination legs or the “Scramble” will return, or how many teams will be racing. However, it has been reported that season 35 started in Mexico, continuing the institution of having the starting line outside of the U.S.

New Zealander and reality veteran Phil Keoghan will be returning for his 33rd season as host. In addition to The Amazing Race, he hosts and executive produces fellow CBS reality series Tough as Nails, which throws the spotlight on real people who are real tough in real life as a result of their physically demanding everyday jobs and puts them through tests of strength, endurance, agility and mental toughness. Keoghan also hosts the interview podcast Buckit, which has had on guests like Alfred Molina, Bonnie Hunt, and Carmelita Jeter.

There are several new reality shows you can watch in the meantime while you wait. Tough as Nails is CBS’ new hit reality show, created, produced, and hosted by Amazing Race’s Phil Keoghan. It currently has aired three seasons, with season 4 set to premiere in January. Additionally, executive producers Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri have worked on the 2021 reality series Race to the Center of the Earth. The show has similarities and differences with The Amazing Race, with teams of three starting from different corners of the globe with the goal to be the first to cross the finish line in the middle of the world.
