The original comedy did well at the box office when it was first released, but since then, it’s grown a major cult following, with many fans wanting a new movie.  Now, both Sorvino and Kudrow confirmed that a sequel is in the early stages of development, with the former telling The TODAY Show that she’s “very excited.” “I can’t say anything yet, but something might be, might be in the works,” Sorvino said.  Sorvino spoke about a possible sequel with Jenna Bush Hager and Kathie Lee Gifford, explaining that “there’s nothing official to report, but I can unofficially hint that we’re closer than we’ve ever been to getting something to happen.” Sorvino seemed confident and happy to deliver the news, though she made sure to emphasize that she can’t officially announce anything yet.  Luckily for fans, Kudrow echoed Sorvino’s statements just a few hours later during an interview on SiriusXM, as reported by Variety. She stated that original screenwriter Robin Schiff is “thinking about it and coming up with something. Isn’t that thrilling?” The original 1997 film features Sorvino as Romy White and Kudrow as Michele Weinberger, two best friends living together in California, who try to improve themselves in order to impress their old classmates at the 10-year high school reunion. The movie also stars Janeane Garofalo, Alan Cumming and Julia Campbell, among other recognizable faces.  Next, Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino Just Had Their Own Romy and Michele Reunion and We’re Loving It
