Stewart joined the premiere season of Love Island USA on CBS back in 2019, and last night she shared a video on TikTok explaining her on-set experience. Stewart prefaced the video, which was titled “Top questions I’m asked about being an islander on love island USA,” with one promise to viewers: “No gatekeeping, I’m telling you everything.” And she sure did deliver. Stewart began the great reveal by addressing one of the most perplexing conditions about the show concerning cast members’ access to their cellphones. Oftentimes, reality TV stars are forced to ditch all forms of electronic devices—including cellphones—during filming (for a variety of reasons). Stewart explained in the video that wasn’t the case while she filmed for the show a few years ago. As she green-screened in a photo of five Season 1 cast members taking a selfie on set, Stewart said: “The phones–I know this is such a big thing for everyone they just can’t understand [that the cast has access to cellphones]–we do not know the day or time, all the phones have different dates and times on them. No one knows, unless you have a sundial and know how to read it.” When it came time for scenes that producers felt required an adult beverage, the cast wasn’t recklessly supplied with alcohol. According to Stewart, Islanders were lucky to get maybe two glasses while filming. Cheers to responsibility! “Wine comes out of a magic cabinet. They tell you, ‘Go get your wine.’ [You get] one glass, maybe two if you’re lucky.” Stewart also provided answers to those who have ever wondered about the cast’s POV while filming. It’s apparently pretty similar to that of a viewer’s perspective, according to statements made by the star. “There are no cameramen visible to the Islanders, unless one slips up and you see them in the bushes, but there are cameras posted [all] around the villa, that’s it. You only see the cameramen when you [accidentally] spot them, you’re doing a dance scene or you’re on a date one-on-one.” Stewart ended the video with one final answer for fans curious to know if the cast is responsible for cooking all of their meals. “We only have to make breakfast—lunch and dinner are catered. The boys and girls are separate at lunch and dinner; we have chaperones and we’re not allowed to speak to each other because they don’t want the plot line to go any further, and they won’t film us eating because it’s not attractive.” She hastily continued: “And I’m running out of time and I guess this is my job now to talk about Love Island all the time.” The abrupt ending begs the question—are we getting a part two of this series? Only time will tell. For now, you can watch the full video of Alexandra Stewart spilling all the behind-the-scenes tea for Season 1 of Love Island USA in the video above. More News:
