When will Law & Order: Organized Crime premiere?
Law & Order: Organized Crime was pushed back from fall 2020 into 2021 due to a change in the showrunner for the new NBC drama, according to The Hollywood Reporter, but now the premiere date has been announced. Eliot Stabler will begin his new beat on Law & Order: Organized Crime April 1. The new series will air immediately after that night’s episode of Law & Order: SVU, which features a reunion between Stabler and his former partner Olivia Benson.
Is there a Law & Order: Organized Crime trailer?
Here’s the first promo released by NBC, which teases the long-awaited reunion of Stabler and Benson on Law & Order: SVU‘s April 1 two-hour crossover event. It is essentially a retrospective of their 12 seasons together on SVU and ends with Stabler saying, “Liv!” while a startled Benson responds, “Elliot.” Earlier NBC dropped a teaser that’s equally enticing!
COVID-19 Update
Production has resumed on Law & Order: Organized Crime after Deadline reported that production had been put on hold on Feb. 6, as a result of a positive COVID-19 test result that could affect the actors. Those exposed were requested to self-quarantine. The pause in filming should not affect the April 1 premiere date.
What time will Law & Order: Organized Crime be on?
The series is set to air Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
Reunited and it feels so good!
It is the photo fans have been waiting for. Hargitay posted several behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Law & Order: Organized Crime, as she reunited with Meloni after all these years in their respective roles as Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler. She wrote, “It’s all happening.” Back in January, Meloni had posted a selfie with Mariska, writing, “We are a little closer." Law & Order: Organized Crime was moved from 2020 to 2021, and now it looks as if may premiere this spring. Fingers crossed!
Who is in the Law & Order: Organized Crime cast?
At this point in time, all we know for sure is that Christopher Meloni, who left SVU in Season 12 when his character retired from the NYPD, is returning to reprise his role as Elliot Stabler. Because Law & Order: Organized Crime was picked up straight to series, no pilot was filmed, so no casting had to be done. Meloni was initially going to make his return on the Season 22 premiere episode of SVU, but when COVID-19 hit, everything changed. It remains to be seen whether there will be a TV reunion between Stabler and Olivia Benson (Hargitay), but it’s looking good. SVU showrunner Warren Leight tweeted that they would reintroduce Stabler the night the spinoff premieres. While we keep praying for a reunion, we rest easy knowing the two remain friends in real life: Since his departure from SVU, Meloni has garnered impressive credits, including True Blood, Pose, Harley Quinn, Happy! and Handmaid’s Tale, among others. That said, he told Variety regarding his decision to return, “I think I maybe wanted to be less of a journeyman or a nomad because I’ve been doing that. It’s been great…but after a while you’re like, ‘Let’s look for a home base again for a while.” Starring alongside Meloni will be Dylan McDermott, best known for his roles on American Horror Story, The Practice, and more recently, for his Emmy-nominated performance in Hollywood. There is no word yet on who he will be playing. Also, becoming a series regular, according to Deadline, is Danielle Moné Truitt, who most recently starred on the Fox drama series Deputy.
What is Law & Order: Organized Crime about?
As mentioned, Elliot Stabler will be returning to the NYPD after suffering an overwhelming personal lost. Instead of rejoining the Special Victims Unit, he is coming back to take on organized crime. Initially, the series will also demonstrate how NYC and the NYPD have changed in his 10-year absence, so he will have to adapt to the new way of doing things. In addition, Stabler will aim to find absolution and rebuild his life while leading a new elite task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful criminal syndicates one by one. As for facing those changes, Meloni told Variety, “I think he was a guy on the right side of justice. Nowadays that’s commendable, but you can’t use that as an excuse to go outside the boundaries just because you think my cause is the just cause because these lines have been — not blurring — they have been broken and people are fed up.”
