Katie Thurston will get her own season of The Bachelorette, which will begin taping soon, Reality Steve revealed on his blog Wednesday. And, while Katie’s season of the show has reportedly been planned for a while now, producers have decided that Michelle Youngwill also get her own season of The Bachelorette. This was confirmed during Matt James’ After the Final Rose special. ABC has dabbled with the concept of two Bachelorettes in the past, pitting Kaitlyn Bristowe against Britt Nilsson in 2015 to see who would ~actually~ get to lead the season. But the network has never announced two seasons at once. Here’s everything you need to know about Michelle’s season of The Bachelorette.
Who is Michelle Young again?
Michelle is an elementary school teacher in Minnesota who made it to the top two of Matt James’ season of The Bachelor. While spoilers have said for months that she didn’t win, her being cast as The Bachelorette all but confirms it. Michelle won people over this season with her quiet confidence and easygoing attitude toward just about everything. And, if anyone on the franchise was ever here for the right reasons, it would be her: Michelle didn’t even post on Instagram before she joined the show. Her first post ever was in April, and she even joked about being “late to the Instagram party.”
How do people feel about Michelle being the Bachelorette?
Overall, people seem pretty excited. Here are just a few samplings of the tweets after Reality Steve made the announcement:
When will Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette be filmed?
It will take place later this summer, according to Reality Steve. Katie’s season will be filmed at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya in New Mexico in a few weeks, while Michelle’s will tape later, likely in July. Why the delay? Michelle didn’t want to leave her class again to start filming in a few weeks and miss out on the rest of the school year. “Hence, the reason she is getting her own season this summer when she’s out of school,” Reality Steve wrote.
When will Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette premiere?
There’s nothing set in stone right now, but there is an order to follow here. Since Katie’s season of The Bachelorette shoots first, that will air first. While the Clare Crawley-Tayshia Adams season of the show premiered in October, that was due to the pandemic. Typically, the show debuts in May and, if Katie is starting filming soon, the show may get back to its usual schedule. Reality Steve says that Bachelor in Paradise will film in June, as usual, and will air after Katie’s season. And that’s where Michelle’s season comes into play. Since it will likely film in July, it will probably air in the fall.
Who will host Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette?
Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe will take over the reins as dual hostesses of the upcoming season of The Bachelorette with Katie while host Chris Harrison steps away from the series. No word if this will be the case for Michelle as well, but we hope so! “Chris Harrison will not be hosting the next season of The Bachelorette,” ABC Entertainment and Warner Horizon said in a statement on behalf of The Bachelor franchise. “We support Chris in the work that he is committed to doing. In his absence, former Bachelorettes Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe will support the new Bachelorette through next season.” The statement continued, “As we continue the dialogue around achieving greater equity and inclusion within The Bachelor franchise, we are dedicated to improving the BIPOC representation of our crew, including among the executive producer ranks. These are important steps in effecting fundamental change so that our franchise is a celebration of love that is reflective of our world.”
Where will Michelle’s season of The Bachelorette be filming?
That hasn’t been announced yet but Katie is supposedly filming at a gorgeous resort in New Mexico. Maybe Michelle will film there, too! Next, see what happened between Michelle and Matt, and who he picks at the end of his season.
