The America’s Got Talent judge revealed that 18-year-old Leni will be leaving for college this fall. Like most parents, Klum has mixed emotions, noting that she’s proud and excited while also acknowledging that her “heart will be sad” without her daughter at home. “I am [so proud],” Heidi told ET Online, adding, “You know, she has her head screwed on right. Right now, college is on top of the list. It’s not modeling and she’s really excited for that next chapter in her life.” Leni has largely followed in her mother’s footsteps after making her modeling debut for Vogue Germany at age 16. “Unfortunately, she is moving away from home, which is obviously sad but at the same time that she’s got enough to go for it,” she continued. The model found comfort in the fact that Leni is familiar with New York, where she’ll be moving to attend classes. “I started in New York, so she knows New York inside and out because we shot Project Runway there for many years,” the 49-year-old said, adding, “So, she knows it well because I always move my family to New York when we were still filming. So, I think she’s going to have a good time.” Leni can also rely on her mom for insight and advice as Klum knows what it takes to make it in the industry. “I think any industry has positive and negative sides,” Klum explained. “You meet some strange people here and there. But you meet strange people in other jobs too. So, I feel like, you know, everyone learns their lesson as they live and get older and get more experience. You get only experience with learning,” she recalled of the time spent traveling while dominating the fashion industry. While Klum’s ex, Flavio Briatore, is Leni’s birth father, she was legally adopted by her mother’s ex-husband, Seal, who is also the father of her siblings Henry, 16, Johan, 15, and Lou, 12. Hopefully, the full house, along with husband Tom Kaulitz of rock band Tokio Hotel, will be enough to keep Klum occupied while Leni is away spreading her wings. More Entertainment:
