Cooper addressed that Hailey’s husband was in a “very public relationship” with Gomez right before he started dating the model, questioning, “were you ever with Justin romantically at the same time as her?” The interview references Gomez but never addresses her by name directly. Hailey responded, “No, not one time.” She then went on to explain that when they began talking to each other, he was never in a relationship “at any point.” “It’s not my character to mess with someone’s relationship, I just would never do that. I was raised better than that,” she said, adding, “I can say, period point blank, I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody.” Back in Oct. 2017, the pop star and Gomez were seen rekindling their romance, which initially started in 2010, before ultimately splitting in March 2018, a few months before Hailey and Bieber got back together in June of that year. They initially started dating in 2016, per Billboard.During the podcast, Hailey noted that Bieber “closed a chapter” during his five months with Gomez, noting that it was the best thing for him to move on with his life. She went on to state that “as a woman I would never want to get into a relationship with someone and be engaged and be married to them and think in the back of my mind, ‘I wonder if that was really, like, closed for you.’ I know for a fact that the reason we were able to get back together was because it was very much completely closed.”The model noted that the three of them are “so far moved on from any type of drama,” and that she usually refrains from speaking about the subject because she doesn’t want to “stir anything up.” Hailey also said that she spoke directly with Gomez, adding that their talk brought her a “lot of peace.” “That’s why I’m like, it’s all respect.
