Like its civilian counterpart, the show will feature a group of people entering the Big Brother house, where 94 HD cameras and 113 microphones track their every move. They’ll spend their time competing, strategizing and, ultimately, evicting each other. By the end of the game, the eliminated houseguests vote for one of the final two left in the game, with the winner getting $250,000. However, as the name implies, Big Brother: Celebrity Edition (or Celebrity Big Brother, as it’s sometimes referred to) fills the house with stars from all different backgrounds. Previous notable houseguests include former White House employees Omarosa Manigault Newman and Anthony Scaramucci, Olympians Lolo Jones and Ryan Lochte, comedian Tom Green, and television personality Ross Matthews. The celebrity houseguests compete in an abbreviated format compared to the summertime civilian version, usually running for only about a month instead of the near-three months of the other edition. The announcement from CBS comes as a surprise to Big Brother fans, considering the lengthy hiatus for the format. Celebrity Big Brother previously aired in early 2018 and 2019, running three to four episodes a week. Those seasons were won by actress Marissa Jaret Winokur and singer Tamar Braxton. Since season 2, the network has remained hush-hush about the prospects of the show returning. And now, after a three-year break, it is. Not many details have been released for Big Brother: Celebrity Edition season 3 yet. CBS announced it would be airing “winter 2022,” most likely in January or February to mimic the airdates of the previous two seasons. The houseguests and air schedule have yet to be revealed. But considering we are less than a month away from crowning a winner for Big Brother 23, BB fans should be ready for another helping come the beginning of next year. Next, check out our interview with Celebrity Big Brother 2 winner Tamar Braxton.
