He’s equal parts sexy, honest, brave and kind, with just enough imperfection to make him human. And did we mention totally hot? It’s no wonder Outlander’s time-traveling heroine Claire (Caitriona Balfe) falls in love with him.

Heughan is the star of SAS: Red Notice as special forces operator Tom Buckingham, a man who comes from a wealthy family, but who chooses to serve his country. “He had the opportunity to go into the military at the officer level, but he’s gone in from the bottom and worked his way up, which, I think, is what makes him well-liked by his fellow comrades,” Heughan exclusively told Parade.com. “He’s an interesting guy. What drives him? Well, what drives a psychopath? I think it’s an intriguing question, but he definitely thrives in the military. It’s certainly a place that his abilities really come to the forefront.” SAS: Red Notice is based on the eponymous novel by former SAS operator Andy McNab. In the action-thriller, Tom Buckingham is taking his girlfriend Dr. Sophie Hart (Hannah John-Kamen) from London to Paris to propose when their train is taken over by a well-trained group of mercenaries. Tom has to singlehandedly come to the rescue to save Sophie and the rest of the passengers.

Based on the Valiant Comics character of the same name, Bloodshot stars Vin Diesel as Ray Garrison, a slain soldier who is re-animated with superpowers. And Heughan plays Jimmy Dalton, a Navy SEAL who’s been through some trauma and has been changed by technology and made into a better soldier. But Jimmy is at odds with Ray and the two fight to the end! “It’s an amazing part, to be honest,” Heughan told Parade.com. “Very, very different to what I’m used to playing. It’s a very physical role and I really loved it. When people see the character, I hope, they’re going to see it’s a really iconic character that plays a new or supervillain maybe.”

Heughan goes for the laughs as Sebastian, an undercover spy, in The Spy Who Dumped Me. He stars opposite Mila Kunis and KateMcKinnon, who play besties who become entangled in an international conspiracy when one of them discovers the hard way–she’s almost killed–that her ex (Justin Theroux) was a spy. “He’s one of the good guys—or is he?,” Heughan teased to Parade.com. “That whole spy world is very shady. I read some great autobiographies about agents, especially MI5, and how they’re always undercover.”

A Princess for Christmas, which originally premiered Dec. 3, 2011, on Hallmark Channel in the U.S., is the story of Jules Daly (Katie McGrath), a devoted aunt who becomes the legal guardian for her teenage nephew Milo (Travis Turner) and young niece Maddie (Leilah de Meza) after the death of their parents in an accident the previous year. Jules’ sister had been married to nobility, and finally, the Duke of Castlebury Hall (Roger Moore) decides he wants to meet his grandchildren. When Jules and the kids arrive at Castlebury Hall, she meets Ashton, the Duke’s younger son, and, obviously, they fall in love. “I think I am a better actor now, but I love that movie,” Heughan told Parade.com. “I got to work with Roger Moore. He is one of the most famous Bonds and it was incredible. All of those jobs are the precursor to what I am doing now. I met great people. Interesting, my butler in that (Miles Richardson), he was in last season of Outlander. He played one of the redcoat officers and Tim Downie, who last season played Governor Tryon, also played my butler in a Tennent’s advert, so we have a great photo where I am with my two former butlers who are now redcoats.”

The docu-drama is the story of a trial that took place in the mid-1950s when several well-known British men were on trial for homosexual acts. It eventually lead to the decriminalization of said acts between consenting adults in Britain. Heughan’s character Edward McNally was on leave from the air force when he met Peter Wildeblood, a royal correspondent for the Daily Mail newspaper. They begin an affair, which included a weekend at the estate of Lord Edward Montagu, which led to the scandal that rocked Britain and led to the trial. In real life, McNally received immunity in return for testifying against Wildeblood.

River City is a British soap opera that follows the lives of the people who live in the fictional part of Glasglow known as Shieldinch. Heughan played a minor character, Livingston FC footballer Andrew Murray, who came from an upper-middle-class family but chose to ignore his inheritance and follow his childhood dream of being a footballer (soccer player here in the U.S.).
